Portrait planning by venue—not by a universal checklist
The Barn
The Barn’s structure, exterior, and surrounding grounds establish its version of Perona Farms. Because the event moves across levels, entrances and transitions need camera positions planned before guests begin moving.
The Reserve
The Reserve’s garden and patio areas create a different route. Family photographs and wedding-party portraits should stay close to the event space unless another property location is important enough to justify the time.
The Refinery
The Refinery’s modern industrial interior changes both the look and the rain plan. It can carry interior portraits without pretending to be the Barn or Reserve.
The grounds
The property includes grounds, and the gallery on this page shows garden, orchard, patio, and lake-view context. Access can vary by the venue booked and the event schedule. We choose a small number of locations and verify that they are available for that wedding.
Is a first look necessary at Perona Farms?
No universal answer applies to all three venues. A first look is useful when a couple wants portraits at a location away from their ceremony or wants to protect cocktail hour. It is not something “almost every photographer” gets to prescribe without seeing the schedule.
Without a first look, we keep the post-ceremony route compact and close to the booked event space. The decision comes from the actual venue, family list, season, and ceremony time.
Family photographs before the property pulls people apart
Perona Farms’ scale can make it harder to regroup relatives once they move toward cocktail hour or another part of the property. We select one accessible location, use a written list, and assign one organizer from each family.
An efficient family plan protects the couple’s time for the property locations that actually matter to them.
Weather plans must match the Barn, Reserve, or Refinery
“Perona Farms has indoor spaces” is not a sufficient rain plan. The couple only has access to the spaces and schedule attached to their event. We confirm the current ceremony backup, portrait access, and movement plan with the venue.
The goal is for the indoor photographs to remain specific to the Barn, Reserve, or Refinery—not to promise that the orchard or lake can be replaced without changing anything.
Choose the Perona Farms story you booked
The finished album should make the chosen venue clear. The Barn’s structure, the Reserve’s garden relationship, or the Refinery’s industrial interior becomes the visual thread. The grounds add a chapter when time and access allow; they do not need to turn the day into a tour.
