Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.
Nate - We met in January 2006, I was on business and Amie was working the front desk. I asked her where the Nike store was, Amie said it was too far and that a taxi would cost too much, so she offered to take me. And then she fell in love with me.
Amie – We met in January 2006, Nate was in Denver for the week and I was working at the front desk of his hotel. It was his first year on the team, and I was a freshman in college. He was flirting with me and asked if I knew where he could get some Nike's. I told him about a place downtown, and he smoothly asked if I wanted to take him there, and that he would buy me dinner. HE was the one who fell in love, and asked ME out first =)!
When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did? etc.
Nate – I knew Amie was the one when we went to ESPN zone, and we were shooting some hoops. She was in heels and beat me, but she hasn’t won since. That was the same night I first told her I love her and she did not tell me it back.
Amie – I knew Nate was special to me after the first week that we spent together. We had an instant bond that is indescribable. However, I knew he was the ONE after we had to go about 3 weeks without talking after he got back from a tour in China. It was the longest 3 weeks of my life, and at that time I truly recognized my feelings and the love I had for him. We spent the weekend together shortly after those 3 weeks, and our connection was stronger than ever before. I knew that he was the one for me, without a doubt after that weekend.
Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Nate – I was planning on proposing for about a year, the hardest part about the whole thing was picking out the ring. I know Amie is so particular, but as we were in different places I would ask her if she likes this or that. When she would make comments about other rings I would keep them in mind. I have had her ring size for about three years, we were in Hawaii and I picked out a ring for her that was a perfect size, I asked her from then what size it was and kept it in mind. I was not sure how I was going to propose. I was going to do it on a planned vacation to the Bahamas with our close friends, but decided that was corny and not us 2 days before we were leaving. So when I picked up the ring, on my drive back to the house I was excited and got emotional, and I decided to do it right then. I came home to Amie lying down in bed. I gave her an empty box telling her it was some earrings, before she sat up I was on one knee in our bedroom. Amie cried and the dog went crazy.
Amie – It was perfectly romantic, and private, and SO us! I had no idea Nate was planning to propose that weekend. I knew it was in our future, but did not have the slightest idea how soon. So when I did see Nate on one knee, I was taken back with excitement and surprise.
Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.
Nate – I love that no matter what, Amie is the sweetest kindest person and is always smiling. No matter what is going on always makes my day better and always knows the right thing to say.
Amie – One of the things that I love most about Nathaniel is his smile, laugh, and sense of humor. It is SO SO infectious! I can be so frustrated with him at times, and he will do something that I can’t help but laugh and forget what I was upset about. He has the kind of smile and laugh that makes you want to smile and laugh too…makes me so happy!
If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.
Amie – What don’t we do silly or quirky? Haha, we are the most silly with each other, never a dull moment.
Besides getting married - what’s the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?
Nate – Sharing it with family and friends
Amie – I cannot wait to kiss Nathaniel for the first time as my husband!
What’s your favorite trend for weddings right now?
Amie – Gold!!! (obviously ha)! I love how there is more and more use of Gold as an accent, rather than just the traditional Silver.
What inspired your décor or theme?
Nathaniel is from New Orleans, and we currently live in Miami. So we wanted to do a New Orleans flare meets Miami Glam. Our theme is very regal and elegant, with a fun twist of New Orleans. There are a lot of feathers and diamonds, and a pretty classic blend of black, white, and gold with accents of coral.
